Description: Solscape is a "Solar Data Browser" application that grabs real time, up to the minute images of the Sun in multiple light wavelengths. Solscape also monitors current Solar flare activity, Earth view satellite images, Solar geomagnetic activity, and Aurora activity. Solscape gets all of its information via the Internet and compiles it in a single, easy to use application. You can save and archive the data that Solscape collects for later use, and you can tell Solscape to automatically grab the data when you want. What's new in this version:All SOHO images now update correctly (the image format changed from GIF to JPG).

Description: Wcalc is a very capable calculator. It supports abitrary precision, has standard functions (sin, asin, and sinh for example, in either radians or degrees), many pre-defined constants (pi, e, c, etc.), support for using variables, "active" variables, a command history, hex/octal/binary input and output, unit conversions, embedded comments, and an expandable expression entry field. It evaluates expressions using the standard order of operations.Wcalc uses intuitive expressions and implicit multiplication. For example, Wcalc will evaluate: 5sin 4!-7*2(4%6)^2 to be -221.96631678. Wcalc will also understand basic UTF-8 entities. What's new in this version:This release is, primarily a bugfix release, but also now has a big enough improvement in the processing of international input that I figured it was worth the bigger version bump. You'll also notice that we have a new icon! Huzzah to Susan Wheeler for designing it!

Description: Cosmic Debris is an Aurora Borealis (AKA the Northern Lights) monitor menu item. It monitors two internet data sources for the probability of an Aurora event. The menu icon then displays the likelihood of an event using a color scheme: green for low probability, yellow for medium probability, red for high probability (and active for PCAF), and gray for unknown. Options include having a popup window, email or sound alert you of upgrades to the probability levels, auto updating and more. Remember, this is a probabilty monitor. It doesn't actually tell you if the Northern Lights are active or not, but rather the likelihood that they could be active. What's new in this version:Works with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). Description: R is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. It is a GNU project which is similar to the S language and environment which was developed at Bell Laboratories (formerly AT&T, now Lucent Technologies) by John Chambers and colleagues. R can be considered as a different implementation of S. There are some important differences, but much code written for S runs unaltered under R.R provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering, bioinformatics, ...) and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible. The S language is often the vehicle of choice for research in statistical methodology, and R provides an Open Source route to participation in that activity. One of R's strengths is the ease with which well-designed publication-quality plots can be produced, including mathematical symbols and formulae where needed. Great care has been taken over the defaults for the minor design choices in... Keywords: graphics analysis design source time code
