Description: LFT (Layer Four Traceroute) is a sort of "traceroute" that often works much faster than the commonly-used Van Jacobson method and goes through many configurations of packet-filter based firewalls. More importantly, LFT implements numerous other features, including TCP, UDP, and ICMP trace methods, AS number lookups through several reliable sources, loose source routing, netblock name lookups, and more. LFT also distinguishes between TCP-based protocols, which make its statistics slightly more realistic, and gives a savvy user the ability to trace protocol routes, not just layer-3 hops. Also includes WhoB, a whois client designed specifically for network engineers. What's new in this version:Improved build process on NetBSD and Darwin/Mac OS X. Some code clean-up and features added to configuration system. New configure options to use gettimeofday calls instead of relying on imprecise timing in packet headers on some platforms. Default behavior of WhoB client changed due to popular demand.

Description: Firewall Builder is a multi-platform firewall configuration and management system. It consists of a GUI and set of policy compilers for various firewall platforms. It helps users maintain a database of objects and allows policy editing using simple drag-and-drop operations. The GUI and policy compilers are completely independent, this provides for a consistent abstract model and the same GUI for different firewall platforms. It currently supports iptables, ipfilter, ipfw, OpenBSD pf and Cisco PIX.What's new in this version:The GUI code is in the freeze for QT4 conversion. I will fix bugs in policy compilers but will try to avoid changes in the GUI. New GUI based on QT4 will be released next spring when KDE4 is included in all major Linux distributions and FreeBSD. There will be bugfix releases for v2.1 if necessary. Keywords: management conversion database builder system code
